From Greeting to Conversation
A greeting often begins with a simple “hello” – a spontaneous reaction to the other person.
If the greeter intends to establish contact, an introduction follows: presenting oneself by stating one’s name, followed by a question – for example: “So?”, “How are you?”, or a statement (which may vary widely).
Through this, the person being greeted is activated in their sensory perception.
In order for the initiation of contact to become fruitful, it is necessary to wait and see, firstly: whether, and secondly: how the greeted person responds.
“Conversations as a pastime, for those who enjoy talking.
Conversations as a waste of time, for those who are driven.”
